Turkish Airlines and Boeing have finalized an order for up to 150 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. The order includes a firm commitment for 100 737-8 aircraft and options for 50 additional 737 MAX jets, with substitution rights for the 737-10 variant. This agreement, concluded in New York on September 23, 2026, represents Turkish Airlines' largest single-aisle order to date.
The agreement follows discussions that began in 2025 and was finalized in the presence of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Murat Şeker, Turkish Airlines chairman of the board and the executive committee, stated that the new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft will bring greater efficiency and flexibility to their operations, supporting the extensive network served from their hub in Istanbul.
Turkish Airlines currently operates a fleet of more than 200 Boeing aircraft, including the 737 MAX, 787 Dreamliner, 777, 737 Next-Generation, and 777 Freighter. The airline operates 567 passenger and cargo aircraft and flies to 358 destinations in 133 countries. The order follows their 2025 purchase of up to 75 787 Dreamliners.
According to Boeing, the 737 MAX family reduces fuel use and emissions by 20% compared to the aircraft they replace. The agreement also includes industrial participation provisions to support the Turkish aviation ecosystem.
