Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co reported August revenue of T$514.8 billion ($16.35 billion), jumping 53.3% from a year earlier, as sustained demand for artificial intelligence processors continued to fuel sales of its most advanced chipmaking technologies.
Revenue rose 10.1% month-on-month in August, pushing year-to-date revenue to T$3.38 trillion, up 39.3% from the same period a year ago.
The world's largest contract chipmaker said demand for AI chips has continued to limit overall production capacity at its most advanced nodes, driving higher pricing power for contract manufacturing services and prompting TSMC to accelerate capacity expansion.
Nvidia, a major AI chipmaker, is among TSMC's top customers. The company's stock has doubled over the past 12 months and surged sixfold since late 2022 as the AI boom transformed its order book.
TSMC's revenue growth reflects the broad-based strength of its foundry business across multiple product segments, not just AI-related semiconductors. The company has been investing heavily in new fabrication capacity to meet what management has described as multi-year demand visibility.
