Donald Trump has selected Heidi Overton, a White House policy aide, to lead the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Bloomberg News reported on Tuesday.
Overton, currently deputy director of the White House Domestic Policy Council, would succeed Marty Makary, who resigned in May following weeks of conflict with senior health advisers and scrutiny over several agency decisions. Kyle Diamantas has served as acting FDA chief since Makary’s departure.
Overton previously worked at the America First Policy Institute, a conservative think tank. Her selection reflects the administration’s ongoing efforts to reshape federal health policy through personnel changes at key regulatory agencies.
