Former U.S. President Donald Trump disclosed a purchase of SpaceX shares valued between $15,001 and $50,000 in a financial filing submitted on August 12 and made public on August 22. The transaction occurred on June 23, according to the disclosure.
Trump’s filing also showed he executed more than 1,000 stock trades during June, though the disclosure does not specify the issuers or timing of individual transactions. A White House spokesman, Davis Ingle, stated that Trump and his family have no influence over portfolio management, which is handled independently by third-party institutions using recognized indexes such as the Schwab 1000.
SpaceX, a space, satellite, and AI company led by Elon Musk, priced its initial public offering on June 12 at a valuation of $1.77 trillion, marking the largest U.S. IPO on record. The company operates as a U.S. military contractor and has expanded into AI through its xAI venture, which merged with SpaceX following its IPO.
Separately, Kelly Loeffler, a cabinet member under Trump and head of the U.S. Small Business Administration, made two investments in xAI on the day of its IPO. Analyst Franco Granda estimated the first investment’s value between $7 million and $2.6 billion, while the second ranged from $2.2 million to $25.4 million, depending on timing and valuation assumptions.
