Transocean’s shares advanced 3.2% to $6.025 in morning trading, extending gains from a 52-week low of $2.76. The move follows the announcement of a two-year binding Letter of Award with India’s Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) for the Dhirubhai Deepwater KG2 drillship.
The contract, valued at approximately $300 million including mobilization fees and additional services, is scheduled to commence in the first quarter of 2027. The agreement includes two years of priced options, which if fully exercised would extend operations into early 2031.
Analysts at BTIG reaffirmed their Buy rating on Transocean the prior session, while Barclays maintained a positive stance despite trimming its price target to $7 from $8 earlier in the week. Multiple Wall Street firms raised fair-value estimates, citing improving free cash flow, a growing contract backlog, and stronger-than-expected second-quarter results reported earlier this month.
The broader U.S. equity market offered no support, with the S&P 500 down 0.3%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average declining 0.7%, and the Nasdaq Composite falling 0.8%.
