Taiwan stocks ended higher on Thursday, with the Taiwan Weighted index gaining 0.31% as gains in the oil, gas and electricity, cement and textile sectors offset broader declines in technology and electronics names.
The Taiwan Stock Exchange reported 797 advancing stocks against 243 decliners, with 77 issues unchanged. The benchmark closed at 21,234.50, reflecting modest upward momentum in the session.
Among the top gainers, Heron Neutron Medical Corp surged 10.00% to 379.50, adding 34.50 points, while Bora Pharmaceuticals Co Ltd advanced 10.00% to 445.50, up 40.50 points. Tyntek Corp rose 10.00%, closing at 74.80 after adding 6.80 points late in the session.
The sharpest declines were seen in TST Group Holding Ltd, which fell 8.57% to 99.20, and Walsin Technology Corp, which dropped 8.56% to 272.50. Aces Electronics Co Ltd also declined 7.56% to 110.00.
Commodities showed mixed performance, with October crude oil futures rising 0.15% to $84.52 per barrel. Brent crude for October delivery increased 0.23% to $91.83, while December gold futures fell 0.15% to $4,538.61 per troy ounce.
The U.S. dollar edged down 0.03% against the New Taiwan dollar to 31.86, while the U.S. Dollar Index futures were up 0.03% at 98.76. The Taiwan dollar versus the Chinese yuan held steady at 0.21.
