Swedish equities closed lower on Monday, with the OMX Stockholm 30 index retreating 0.05% as losses in health care, financials and oil & gas sectors outweighed gains in industrials and select blue chips.
Declining stocks outnumbered advancers by 415 to 311, with 67 issues unchanged on the Stockholm exchange. The index’s modest decline came despite gains from Essity AB B, which rose 2.82% to 281.20, and AB SKF B, which added 2.17% to 268.20 and set a new all-time high.
Sandvik also advanced 1.65% to 387.10. On the downside, ABB led decliners with a 2.28% drop to 924.60, followed by Saab AB at 642.20 (-1.98%) and Svenska Handelsbanken AB A at 144.55 (-1.63%).
Oil prices mirrored the broader market’s weakness, with October crude futures falling 2.54% to $84.85 per barrel and November Brent crude down 2.13% to $90.70. December gold futures, however, edged up 0.51% to $4,704.64 per troy ounce.
The Swedish krona strengthened against major peers, with EUR/SEK rising 0.20% to 11.08 and USD/SEK up 0.41% to 9.50. The U.S. Dollar Index futures slipped 0.21% to 98.94.
