Strategy Inc. has resumed Bitcoin purchases, acquiring 4,603 BTC between August 24 and August 30 for a total of $369.7 million at an average price of $80,318 per coin. The move follows a 10-week selling streak during which the company disposed of 6,948 BTC for $432.5 million to fund preferred-stock dividends and share repurchases.
The corporation’s total Bitcoin holdings now stand at 845,050 BTC, down from a peak of 847,363 BTC on June 21. The total cost basis for its holdings is $63.73 billion, with a blended average price of $75,412 per coin. Strategy raised $602.8 million via 4.53 million Class A shares, deploying $369.7 million of the proceeds into the recent Bitcoin acquisition.
Executive Chairman Michael Saylor signaled the resumption of purchases with a social media post reading "We're ₿ack" on Sunday, ahead of the company’s SEC 8-K filing on Monday following the New York Stock Exchange open. Strategy’s shares rose between 1% and 2% in pre-market trading on August 31.
Bitfinex analysts described the prior disposal as a "rounding error" relative to daily spot volumes, noting the scale of the recent purchase as a return to the company’s long-term strategy.
