SpaceX’s Starlink has resubmitted an application to India’s space regulator seeking approval for its Gen 2 satellite network, following the rejection of an earlier filing.
The new submission, reported Thursday, requests authorization for a low Earth orbit constellation operating between 340 and 615 kilometers, including direct-to-device connectivity features. Starlink’s Gen 2 system represents an expansion of its satellite broadband services, which currently account for SpaceX’s largest revenue stream.
The Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre previously denied Starlink’s initial Gen 2 application due to non-conformity with certain spectrum bands and technical specifications. The regulator’s decision had prompted the company to revise its proposal before resubmitting.
The renewed effort underscores Starlink’s push to secure a foothold in India’s growing satellite telecom market, where demand for high-speed broadband connectivity continues to rise.
