Spyre Therapeutics Inc (SYRE) shares reached a 52-week high of $108.16 on Tuesday, extending a strong rally that has delivered a 517% return over the past year and a 219% gain year-to-date.
The biotech firm, which boasts a market capitalization of $9.5 billion, has drawn significant analyst attention following positive phase 2 trial results for its ulcerative colitis treatment SPY002. The trial, which enrolled 48 patients, demonstrated a statistically significant improvement in Robart's Histopathology Index score at week 12, according to company data.
Analysts have responded with mixed but largely bullish outlooks. Mizuho raised its price target to $120, citing promising clinical remission rates from the SKYLINE Part A data. Deutsche Bank similarly increased its target to $115, attributing the move in part to a competitor's setback in a related trial. Wolfe Research, however, downgraded Spyre to Peerperform, citing valuation concerns and potential third-quarter catalysts.
The stock's surge has also coincided with notable insider activity. Fairmount Healthcare Fund II L.P. sold over 4.6 million shares for approximately $399.7 million, exiting the position entirely. InvestingPro analysis suggests shares may be overvalued relative to its Fair Value estimate, though the stock maintains a strong buy consensus among analysts.
