Sonoco Products Company will increase prices for uncoated recycled paperboard grades in the EMEA region by €60 per ton, effective September 15, 2026. The move applies to all shipments made on or after that date, according to an announcement from the company’s Brussels-based European unit, Sonoco S.a.r.l.
The price adjustment reflects ongoing inflationary pressures, geopolitical constraints, and elevated energy and fuel costs that the company said it can no longer absorb. Sonoco S.a.r.l. operates 19 tubes and core plants and five paperboard mills across Europe, serving a broad industrial paper packaging market.
Karsten Kemmerling, Division Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Industrial Paper Packaging in EMEA, stated that the company is compelled to pass on additional costs to customers. "As we are unable to absorb these additional costs, we are forced to pass them on to the market," Kemmerling said.
Sonoco Products Company, headquartered in the United States, reported net sales of $7.5 billion from continuing operations in 2025 and employs approximately 22,000 people across 263 operations in 37 countries.
