Swiss industrial group Skan reported a 22% increase in first-half sales and a return to profitability, reversing losses from the prior-year period.
The company said revenue rose to CHF 1.45 billion ($1.62 billion) in the six months ended June 30, up from CHF 1.19 billion a year earlier. Net profit for the period totaled CHF 35 million, compared with a net loss of CHF 28 million in the first half of 2023.
Skan attributed the improvement to stronger demand across its core industrial and logistics segments, as well as cost-control measures implemented in late 2023. The group also highlighted efficiency gains in its manufacturing operations and a rebound in order intake following a soft patch in 2023.
Operating profit before exceptional items rose to CHF 68 million from CHF 12 million in the same period last year. Skan maintained its full-year guidance, reaffirming an outlook for mid-single-digit sales growth and stable margins.
Analysts noted that the results signal a recovery in Skan’s end markets, particularly in Europe, where industrial activity has shown signs of stabilization after a prolonged downturn. The company’s order backlog remains healthy, supporting confidence in its near-term performance.
Skan’s shares were up 2.1% in early trading on the Swiss exchange on Friday, reflecting investor optimism following the earnings release.
