South Korea’s SK Hynix said on Monday it had reached a preliminary agreement with labor unions to pay 60% of employee bonuses in company shares, with the remaining 40% in cash.
The arrangement, subject to union approval, would see workers receive shares equivalent to 40% of their total bonus in 2027. The remaining 20% of stock-based compensation would be split between 2028 and 2029. The cash component, unchanged at 40% of the profit-sharing bonus, would be distributed in 2027.
Employees would retain unrestricted rights to sell the shares they receive under the plan. The South Korean chipmaker, a major supplier of memory chips to global technology firms, did not disclose the total value of the bonus pool or the number of employees affected.
