Sinclair Inc. (NASDAQ: SBGI) has lost union representation for news photojournalists at its Seattle-based television stations following a decertification process initiated by employees.
The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees and Moving Picture Machine Operators of the United States and Canada Local 600, AFL-CIO (IATSE Local 600), voluntarily disclaimed interest in continuing to represent the affected workers. The National Labor Relations Board notified the stations of the change on August 18, formalizing the end of IATSE Local 600’s role as the bargaining representative for this group of employees.
The affected stations, KOMO and KUNS, are among Sinclair’s 178 television stations operating across 79 markets in the United States. Sinclair also owns the Tennis Channel and several multicast networks as part of its broader media portfolio.
