Spot silver ended Friday with a sharp reversal, falling to approximately $66.83 after briefly touching an intraday high near $72.05. The decline pushed prices decisively below the $68.89 mean level derived from the Volume-Weighted Price Mean Indicator (VC PMI), shifting short-term momentum bearish and exposing the next technical support targets.
According to the VC PMI framework cited in the analysis, the $68.89 level now serves as the primary resistance and equilibrium point. While price remains below it, the immediate downside bias points toward testing the first support at $65.73. A break below that level would open the door to the deeper 95% probability reversion zone at $63.67. Conversely, a recovery back above $68.89 would neutralize near-term bearish pressure and shift focus to the first resistance at $70.95. The analysis highlights Friday’s session as critical, noting that silver briefly traded above $70.95 before reversing violently. The next major upper resistance is identified at $74.11.
The technical breakdown coincided with a shift in the interest-rate environment. The analysis notes that Federal Reserve Governor Kevin Warsh indicated additional tightening could be warranted if inflation fails to move toward 2%. The dollar index advanced roughly 0.6%, the two-year Treasury yield rose above 4.3%, and market expectations for a September rate hike increased sharply. Spot silver fell more than 4% during the session.
Despite the near-term weakness, the analysis maintains a constructive long-term view on silver, citing structural demand from electronics, AI and data-center applications, as well as broader industrial usage. However, it acknowledges that higher yields and a stronger dollar are exerting pressure in the short term.
The analysis also highlights an upcoming cycle decision window from August 28 to September 1, following Friday’s reversal. The next confirmation point will be whether the $65.73 support holds or if price accelerates toward $63.67. From a Square of 9 perspective, the identified VC PMI extremes are treated as price/time convergence areas rather than automatic entry points. A sustained recovery through $68.89 would signal a potential completion of the downside cycle.
The analysis advises traders to avoid chasing Friday’s decline, recommending a wait-and-see approach around the $65.73–$63.67 range for stabilization and a confirmed mean-reversion signal. If resistance at $68.89 is reclaimed, targets shift to $70.95 and $74.11.
