Shoals Technologies Group said on Friday it secured a jury verdict of more than $96 million in a patent infringement case against Voltage LLC and Ningbo Voltage Smart Production Co.
The U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina found that Voltage willfully infringed Shoals' patents covering aspects of its Big Lead Assembly products. The jury also rejected Voltage's validity challenges against the patents in question.
The judgment may increase further at the court's discretion due to the willfulness finding. The court also indicated it will grant a preliminary injunction with immediate effect, barring the manufacture, distribution, or sale of Voltage's LYNX product in the United States.
This ruling follows a June decision by the International Trade Commission, which determined that Voltage's LYNX product infringed Shoals' patents and barred the importation of those products. The Presidential Review Period for the ITC determination lapsed without intervention, allowing the import ban to take effect.
Shoals, headquartered in Portland, Tennessee and founded in 1996, specializes in electrical infrastructure solutions for solar, battery storage, and data center power systems.
