Satellogic Inc. (NASDAQ: SATL) named Vice Admiral (Ret.) Frank D. Trey Whitworth as president on September 8, effective immediately. The announcement came just over a year after Whitworth joined the company in a strategic advisory capacity in March 2026.
Whitworth will report to CEO and co-founder Emiliano Kargieman and will lead internal operations, integrate the company’s mission with sales and marketing, and shape strategy for Satellogic’s defense and intelligence product suite.
He served as the eighth director of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency from June 2022 to November 2025, overseeing a 16,000-person combat support agency. During his tenure at NGA, he expanded the Pentagon’s Project Maven artificial intelligence program across every military service and combatant command.
Before joining NGA, Whitworth spent more than 36 years in the U.S. Navy and the American intelligence community. His assignments included serving as intelligence director for The Joint Staff and U.S. Africa Command, deputy director for computer network operations at the National Security Agency, and intelligence director for Joint Special Operations Command. Most recently, he was CEO of r4 Federal, where he led AI-driven decision-advantage initiatives for defense and intelligence partners.
Whitworth holds a graduate degree from Duke University and a master’s in national security studies from Georgetown University. He is a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
