Russian missile and drone strikes on Tuesday killed 12 people in the Odessa region and injured eight others in Odessa city, including a child, local authorities reported.
Overnight attacks on energy infrastructure in the Odessa region caused transmission outages that left a large number of consumers without power, Ukrenergo said. Power cuts were also reported in four other regions. A 24-story residential building sustained damage across multiple floors, while commercial buildings and two educational institutions were also hit.
In Kiev, a drone attack on Wednesday injured seven people. A six-story residential building was partially destroyed, a nearby three-story building caught fire, and a medical center and educational facility were damaged. Witnesses reported at least three major explosions in the city center, with a black smoke plume rising near the national university building.
The Kyiv region recorded two injuries from drone strikes, with warehouses and private buildings damaged. The offensive against Kiev entered its seventh consecutive day, according to local officials.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday that Moscow’s forces were preparing large-scale attacks on energy infrastructure. Since the previous week, Moscow has deployed swarms of drones, including high-speed jet models, to target Kiev and surrounding areas, authorities stated.
Ukraine’s energy ministry and transmission operator Ukrenergo did not immediately provide updated figures on the extent of the power outages or restoration timelines.
