Roche subsidiary Genentech announced plans to invest $750 million in a new fill-and-finish plant at its Hillsboro, Oregon facility, doubling the site’s existing capacity.
The facility will produce prefilled syringes and autoinjectors, strengthening Genentech’s manufacturing capabilities to support its future drug pipeline. Construction is expected to generate roughly 200 temporary jobs, while the completed plant will add 250 permanent production roles. Commercial operations are slated to begin in 2031.
Genentech has operated the Hillsboro site since 2006 as part of its broader U.S. manufacturing and R&D network. The company currently maintains 13 production facilities and 15 R&D sites across the country, employing approximately 25,000 people.
The investment underscores Genentech’s commitment to expanding domestic production capacity amid growing demand for biologics and injectable therapies.
