Robinhood Markets Inc. shares rose 5% in pre-market trading on Tuesday, pushing the stock above $100 for the first time in recent sessions. The advance follows a 52-week high of $153.86 and comes as the company positions itself at the forefront of a potential tokenization wave in U.S. equities.
The surge coincides with renewed focus on tokenized equity trading, which has grown more than 800% year-to-date to reach $9 billion in projected 2026 volumes. CEO Vlad Tenev published a widely circulated commentary on August 18 urging U.S. regulators to establish a clear framework for tokenized equities, warning that the United States risks falling behind global peers in financial-market infrastructure.
Tenev framed the moment as the "early innings" of a global tokenization supercycle, positioning Robinhood as a natural leader in the transition. His remarks preceded a White House meeting on August 19, where President Trump met with crypto industry executives and publicly endorsed the Clarity Act—a proposed legislative measure aimed at defining regulatory boundaries between the SEC and CFTC for digital assets.
Robinhood’s pre-market rally occurred against a backdrop of broad market stability, with the S&P 500 flat and the Nasdaq modestly higher, indicating the move was company-specific rather than driven by broader equity momentum. The stock remains well below its 52-week peak but has recaptured the $100 level after recent consolidation.
