Redx Pharma has appointed Mei-Lun Wang as chief medical officer, effective immediately, as the company advances its lead asset RXC008 for fibrostenotic Crohn's disease.
Wang, a pediatric gastroenterologist with more than 25 years of experience, joins Redx from the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Her career includes 12 years in drug development across pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, with expertise in gastrointestinal disorders and clinical trial design.
Redx’s RXC008 is an oral ROCK1/2 inhibitor designed to target fibrostenotic Crohn's disease, a condition affecting more than 50% of patients within a decade of diagnosis. The drug is restricted to the gastrointestinal tract via high efflux and low permeability, minimizing systemic exposure. Phase 1 trial data demonstrated tissue exposure with no serious adverse events reported.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration granted RXC008 fast track designation in January 2026. Redx plans to initiate a Phase 2 clinical trial for the drug in the fourth quarter of 2026, with topline data expected by mid-2028. Current management of fibrotic strictures in Crohn's disease relies primarily on surgery, as no drugs are specifically approved for fibrosis in this condition.
Redx, headquartered in Alderley Park, UK, appointed Bernard Coulie to its Board of Directors in August 2026. The company is also part of the STAR consortium, a UK-based initiative focused on advancing treatments for gastrointestinal and liver diseases.
