Lisbon’s benchmark PSI index climbed 0.57% on Tuesday, reaching its highest level in three months as gains in industrials, utilities and technology shares outweighed declines in energy and paper stocks.
Advancing issues outnumbered decliners by 14 to 7, with nine stocks unchanged. The index’s advance was capped by a 3.45% drop in Brent crude futures for November delivery, which fell to $87.42 per barrel.
Among the top gainers, construction firm Mota Engil SGPS SA rose 3.46% to close at €4.66, while renewable energy producer EDP Renovaveis SA added 2.00% to €13.77. Restaurant operator Ibersol Reg SA gained 1.98% to €10.30. On the downside, energy group Galp Energia SA fell 0.70% to €21.28, while pulp producer Altri SGPS SA declined 0.52% to €4.75.
Gold futures for December delivery edged up 0.14% to $4,704.36 per troy ounce, while U.S. oil futures for October delivery dropped 3.35% to $82.16 per barrel. The EUR/USD pair held steady at 1.17, and the dollar index rose 0.05% to 98.88.
