Portugal’s main stock index closed higher on Tuesday, extending gains into a third session as gains in industrials, utilities and technology offset weakness in energy shares.
The PSI index rose 0.57% to reach a three-month high at the close in Lisbon. Advancing issues outnumbered decliners by 14 to 7, with nine stocks unchanged.
Mota Engil SGPS SA led gains, adding 3.46% to close at €4.66. EDP Renovaveis SA advanced 2.00% to €13.77, while Ibersol SGPS SA rose 1.98% to €10.30.
Energy stocks lagged the broader market. Galp Energia SGPS SA fell 0.70% to €21.28, The Navigator Company SA declined 0.67% to €3.27, and Altri SGPS SA dropped 0.52% to €4.75.
Commodities showed mixed performance. Brent crude for November delivery fell 3.46% to $87.41 per barrel, while October crude declined 3.35% to $82.16. December gold futures edged up 0.13% to $4,703.86 per troy ounce.
The euro held steady against major peers. EUR/USD was little changed at 1.17, while EUR/GBP remained flat at 0.86. The U.S. Dollar Index futures were down 0.05% at 98.88.
