The U.S. Department of Defense has awarded contracts to Boeing and RTX to expand production of critical components for missile interceptors, the Pentagon announced on Tuesday.
The agreements aim to enhance manufacturing capacity for key systems used in national missile defense, including interceptor components. Specific terms of the contracts were not disclosed.
The Pentagon stated the deals will help mitigate supply chain risks and ensure timely delivery of interceptors amid rising global security concerns. Boeing and RTX did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The contracts follow recent U.S. efforts to modernize missile defense infrastructure and address vulnerabilities exposed during geopolitical tensions. Earlier this year, the Pentagon outlined plans to accelerate procurement of next-generation interceptors to counter evolving threats.
Industry analysts noted the agreements could provide a revenue boost to Boeing and RTX, both long-standing suppliers to the U.S. defense sector. The contracts align with broader Pentagon initiatives to strengthen domestic defense manufacturing.
