Norway's benchmark Oslo OBX Index slipped 0.43% at the close of trade on Thursday, as declines in media, transport and diversified financials offset advances in select shipping and technology stocks.
Declining issues outnumbered advancers 130 to 119 on the Oslo Stock Exchange, with 34 stocks unchanged. The index's retreat followed a mixed session in European equities, where energy and materials shares lagged.
Frontline Ltd led gainers, rising 4.50% to 408.80 points after reporting stronger-than-expected tanker rates. Hafnia Ltd added 4.36% to 76.65, while Nordic Semiconductor ASA climbed 2.97% to 169.80. On the downside, Yara International ASA fell 4.01% to 438.20, Orkla ASA dropped 1.87% to 94.30, and Mowi ASA declined 1.51% to 208.40.
Crude oil futures for October delivery slipped 0.07% to $82.17 per barrel, while Brent crude for November delivery edged up 0.13% to $87.05. December gold futures fell 0.21% to $4,643.51 per troy ounce. The Norwegian krone weakened modestly against the euro and dollar, with EUR/NOK up 0.18% at 10.87 and USD/NOK higher by 0.17% at 9.33. The U.S. Dollar Index futures were little changed at 99.10.
