Norway’s benchmark OBX index advanced 0.54% to a three-month high on Friday, as rising stocks outnumbered decliners by 144 to 101. The gains were broad-based, with the healthcare equipment, pharmaceuticals and utilities sectors leading the advance.
Frontline Ltd led the advancers, climbing 2.30% to 418.20, a five-year high, while Yara International ASA added 1.87% to 446.40. Telenor ASA rose 1.41% to 136.70. On the downside, Nordic Semiconductor ASA fell 1.24% to 167.70, Kongsberg Gruppen ASA declined 0.98% to 312.30 and Nel ASA dropped 0.94% to 2.11.
Commodities declined as crude oil futures slipped. October WTI crude fell 0.73% to $82.92 per barrel, while November Brent crude declined 0.54% to $88.04. December gold futures dropped 0.89% to $4,622.31 per troy ounce.
The Norwegian krone strengthened against the dollar and euro. The USD/NOK pair rose 0.53% to 9.37, while EUR/NOK gained 0.23% to 10.88. The U.S. Dollar Index futures were up 0.29% at 99.38.
