NOMAD Power Solutions (NASDAQ: NMAD) appointed Global Environmental Liquid Ltd. (GEL) as its sales representative in Canada, the company said Thursday. Under the agreement, GEL will identify and develop commercial opportunities for NOMAD's transportable battery energy storage systems among Canadian utilities, mining and resource companies, and industrial customers.
NOMAD Transportable Power Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of NOMAD Power Solutions, manages the Canadian distribution effort. Jim Allan, director of sales at NOMAD Transportable Power Systems, said the Canadian market presents a strong fit for the company's technology. "Canada's mining and resource sectors are well suited to NOMAD's technology, particularly in remote locations where customers need flexible, rapidly deployable power," Allan said.
NOMAD's flagship product is the Traveler, a transportable battery energy storage system rated at 1 megawatt and 2 megawatt-hours. The systems are mounted on semi-trailers and can be deployed in under one hour. Earlier this September, the company displayed a Traveler unit at the CEN-CAN Mining Expo in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
The Traveler received UL 9540 certification following a field deployment with the Missanabie Cree First Nation in Northern Ontario. The installation supports the community's emergency preparedness and reduces reliance on diesel generation.
GEL is a privately owned environmental utility platform that delivers decentralized water and wastewater infrastructure across Ontario. Its GEL North division extends operations into northern and remote communities.
NOMAD Power Solutions, formerly known as LIXTE Biotechnology Holdings, provides transportable, utility-grade battery energy storage systems. Its shares rose 2.98% on the day of the announcement.
The company is scheduled to exhibit at the PDAC 2027 Convention in Toronto from March 7-10.
