NIQ and Similarweb announced a partnership to develop a measurement solution for AI-driven commerce, with an initial release planned for the fourth quarter of 2026.
The collaboration will focus on five key areas: consumer intent within AI platforms, product visibility in AI recommendations, content optimization for AI-driven searches, AI-generated traffic to product pages, and AI-influenced conversion to sales. The tool is designed to quantify how artificial intelligence is reshaping product discovery and purchasing behavior.
NIQ will contribute product intelligence, consumer behavior data and retail sales measurement, while Similarweb will provide digital signals tracking consumer behavior across AI platforms. These include ChatGPT, Google’s AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude. The partnership responds to the emergence of infrastructure from Google and OpenAI that enables consumers to complete purchases directly within AI platforms.
Troy Treangen, Chief AI and Product Officer at NIQ, said AI is becoming a new commerce channel and that clients need visibility into where AI is influencing their business, the pace of that influence and how to respond. Susan Dunn, Chief Revenue Officer at Similarweb, stated that combining the companies’ data can give brands and retailers insight into how AI-driven discovery translates into commercial outcomes.
The initial version will launch with select product categories and markets before expanding, though specific categories and regions were not disclosed.
