Nextdoor Holdings Inc. has launched a suite of updates aimed at enhancing local business discovery across its platform, which serves more than 110 million verified users globally.
The company introduced a Local Faves hub, an AI-powered search tool and redesigned business pages to highlight neighbor recommendations and verified reviews. The updates are being rolled out in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, where local business recommendations already account for nearly 30% of all content on the platform.
The Local Faves hub ranks businesses based on neighbor endorsements, while the AI search—currently available in the U.S.—summarizes information extracted from neighbor posts and automatically links mentioned businesses to their respective pages. Nextdoor has also redesigned business pages to consolidate contact details, Faves, recommendations and Fave Awards in a single view.
Additional features include a Business Dashboard and a Local Business Feed, both launching in the U.S., enabling business owners to monitor performance and engage with community posts. The company is also testing Opportunity Alerts, a paid service that connects verified neighbor service requests with local service providers.
Nextdoor’s platform operates on a verification policy requiring both neighbors and businesses to confirm their identities. The company cited consumer research indicating that 97% of consumers rely on reviews for purchasing decisions, though 59% have encountered reviews they suspected of being fake. According to CEO and Co-founder Nirav Tolia, the updates aim to restore trust in local business discovery by emphasizing authentic neighbor recommendations over potentially manipulated online reviews.
Nextdoor, which went public in 2021, reported nearly 75 million "Faves" across approximately 6.6 million businesses worldwide as of the latest update.
