Nestlé announced it is withdrawing its Special.T tea capsule system from Switzerland and six other European markets—Germany, Austria, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg—citing shifting home tea consumption habits and a portfolio review. The company said it will no longer sell new Special.T machines and will continue to provide warranty service for existing units until the capsules are exhausted.
Nestlé expects the remaining tea capsules to be available until the end of February 2027. The Special.T system, launched in 2010 as a Nespresso‑style portioned beverage platform, automatically adjusted water temperature and brew time for each tea variety. After scaling back the business in 2021 and moving retail sales online only, a spokesperson had previously noted the product lacked sufficient success in traditional retail channels.
