German specialty chemicals manufacturer Nabaltec AG posted second-quarter revenue of EUR 55.3 million, an increase of 6.9% year-over-year, driven by an 8.3% rise in sales volumes. Average selling prices declined by about 1.4% on a weighted basis, according to the company’s earnings call transcript.
Earnings before interest and taxes fell 19.3% to EUR 3.8 million, while the EBIT margin contracted to 7.2% from 9.3% a year earlier. Earnings per share decreased 17.1% to EUR 0.29. Higher energy costs, including natural gas and electricity, added EUR 1.3 million in gross expenses during the quarter and EUR 1.5 million over the first six months compared with the prior year.
The Specialty Aluminas segment returned to profitability in Q2, reporting an EBIT of EUR 0.6 million compared with EUR 0.1 million in the same period of 2025, after a negative result in Q1. Revenue in the ceramic body product area grew 16.8%. Viscosity-optimized hydroxides revenue surged 45.9% year-over-year, while boehmite revenues rose 23%, attributed to a low base effect. Fine hydroxides revenue remained flat.
For the first half of 2026, Nabaltec reported revenue of EUR 108.6 million, up 1.9% year-over-year, and EBITDA of EUR 13.8 million, a decline of EUR 0.8 million. The EBITDA margin stood at 13.1%, down from 13.7% in H1 2025. Operating cash flow increased to EUR 21.7 million from EUR 20.5 million a year earlier. Net debt totaled EUR 3.9 million as of June 30, while cash and cash equivalents rose to EUR 90.9 million, up from EUR 72.3 million at the end of 2025.
Total assets increased by EUR 11.6 million to EUR 312.3 million, and equity grew to EUR 160.9 million, giving an equity ratio of 51.5%. The order backlog stood at EUR 52.2 million at the end of June, primarily for delivery in the second half of 2026.
Nabaltec reaffirmed its full-year 2026 guidance, projecting revenue growth of 4% to 6% and an EBIT margin of 5% to 7%. The company’s shares were trading at USD 1.39, down 0.71% for the session, well below the 52-week high of USD 2.34 and above the low of USD 0.70.
