Morocco’s benchmark equities gauge, the Moroccan All Shares Index, advanced 0.08% at the close of trade on Monday, reflecting a quiet session with limited directional momentum. The index, which aggregates performance across the Casablanca Stock Exchange’s most liquid listings, ended higher after a day of mixed sectoral performance.
Gains were driven primarily by consumer and industrial stocks, which offset modest declines in the financial and energy segments. Trading volume remained subdued, with turnover slightly below the recent 30-day average, indicating limited investor interest in directional bets. The modest advance follows a recent stretch of consolidation, with the index largely range-bound amid cautious macroeconomic sentiment in the region.
Analysts attributed the limited upside to profit-taking after a brief rally in early-week trade, as well as ongoing concerns over global growth prospects and their potential impact on export-oriented Moroccan firms. The broader North African equity landscape has shown similar hesitancy, with regional peers largely flat or marginally lower during the session.
The Moroccan All Shares Index has gained roughly 1.2% over the past month, underperforming broader emerging-market benchmarks but holding above key technical support levels. Investors will monitor upcoming corporate earnings and domestic policy signals for fresh impetus in the coming weeks.
