Monopar Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ: MNPR) named Jeffrey D. Kent, M.D., as Executive Vice President and Head of Medical Affairs, effective September 1, 2026.
Dr. Kent brings over two decades of biopharmaceutical experience, including roles as Chief Medical Officer at Sling Therapeutics and Executive Vice President of Medical Affairs at Horizon Therapeutics. His prior leadership includes global medical affairs for HUMIRA at Abbott Laboratories.
The appointment coincides with Monopar’s presentation of two abstracts on ALXN1840, its late-stage candidate for Wilson disease, at the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) The Liver Meeting 2026 in Denver, Colorado, November 5–9, 2026. AASLD is scheduled to release the abstracts publicly on October 5, 2026, with publication planned for the October supplement of Hepatology.
An oral presentation on November 8 will analyze residual disease burden in treatment-experienced Wilson disease patients from the FoCus Phase 3 trial, presented by Frederick K. Askari, M.D., Ph.D., of the University of Michigan Health System. A poster presentation on November 5 will examine molybdenum balance and safety in subjects treated with tiomolibdate choline, led by Professor Aftab Ala from King’s College London.
Wilson disease, a rare genetic disorder affecting roughly 1 in 30,000 people globally, is the target of ALXN1840, a first-in-class albumin tripartite complex activator. Monopar previously reported that its Phase 3 pivotal trial met the primary endpoint, demonstrating copper mobilization over 48 weeks.
