Moscow stocks closed lower on Saturday, with the benchmark MOEX Russia Index ending flat at 0.00% as gains in select blue chips offset broader declines.
Rosseti PJSC led advancers among MOEX Russia Index components, rising 1.73% to 0.05, while Magnit PJSC gained 1.70% to 1,528.00 and Tatneft PJSC advanced 1.50% to 540.30. Decliners included AFK Sistema PJSC, which fell 0.78% to 7.34, OZON, which dropped 0.69% to 2,174.00 after hitting a three-year low, and Moskovskiy Kreditnyi Bank PAO, which declined 0.60% to 9.69.
Advancing issues outnumbered decliners 153 to 73, with 20 stocks unchanged, according to Moscow Stock Exchange data. The Russian Volatility Index (RVI) held steady at 47.81, unchanged from its prior close.
Commodities retreated as gold futures for December delivery fell 3.43% to $4,504.10 per troy ounce, while oil futures for October delivery slipped 0.11% to $83.44 per barrel. Brent crude futures for December delivery declined 0.27% to $88.28 per barrel.
The ruble strengthened modestly against major currencies, with the USD/RUB exchange rate decreasing 0.19% to 86.14 and the EUR/RUB rate falling 0.78% to 99.77. The U.S. Dollar Index futures also edged down 0.55% to 99.64.
