A missile strike in Russia’s Belgorod region on Sunday killed two people and injured 16, according to acting governor Alexander Shuvayev. The attack targeted a commercial facility, igniting seven warehouses in the city, which borders Ukraine.
Russian online retailer Ozon said its logistics hub and sorting facility in Belgorod were struck, triggering a fire and causing injuries. Authorities did not immediately confirm whether the same locations were referenced by both Shuvayev and Ozon.
The incident follows a separate attack on Kyiv on Friday, when a Russian drone strike detonated an ammunition depot, killing at least 38 people. Both countries have periodically exchanged strikes on infrastructure, including ports, energy sites, and logistics facilities, while denying deliberate targeting of civilians.
Amid the escalation, Russia’s largest lender, Sberbank, approved the restructuring of 6.8 billion roubles ($79 million) in loans for traders operating on platforms including Ozon and Wildberries, according to TASS, citing a bank executive. The rouble traded at 86.1455 per U.S. dollar at the time of the report.
