Mexico’s benchmark S&P/BMV IPC index closed 0.06% higher on Monday, as gains in industrials, consumer goods and staples offset losses in materials and aviation-linked stocks.
Advancing issues outnumbered decliners 125 to 107 on the Mexico Stock Exchange, with 18 stocks unchanged. The main index rose to close at 58,342.18 points.
Among top gainers, Gentera SAB de CV led with a 3.15% advance to 39.59 pesos, followed by Coca-Cola Femsa SAB de CV, which added 2.97% to 194.66 pesos. Fomento Económico Mexicano UBD rose 1.71% to 206.94 pesos.
Decliners included Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico, which fell 2.89% to 348.59 pesos, Industriales Peñoles, down 2.15% at 915.05 pesos, and GCC SAB de CV, which shed 1.51% to 199.70 pesos.
Gold futures for December delivery rose 0.63% to $4,709.90 per troy ounce, while October WTI crude dropped 2.39% to $84.98 per barrel. The November Brent contract fell 0.02% to $90.37 per barrel.
The Mexican peso held steady against the U.S. dollar, with USD/MXN flat at 16.94. The euro rose 0.07% versus the peso to 19.77. The U.S. Dollar Index futures were up 0.19% at 98.92.
