Laekna’s breast cancer drug application accepted in China
Chinese regulator accepts Laekna’s application for a novel breast cancer therapy, marking a key step toward commercialization in the country’s growing oncology market.

The China National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) has accepted Laekna’s application for its investigational breast cancer drug, the company said on Friday.
The acceptance of the application signals progress for the novel therapy, which targets a specific pathway implicated in certain breast cancer subtypes. Laekna, a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, did not disclose the drug’s mechanism or development stage in the announcement.
China represents a significant market for oncology treatments, driven by rising cancer incidence and expanding access to advanced therapies. The NMPA’s acceptance of the application is a prerequisite for regulatory review and potential approval, though no timeline for a decision was provided.
Laekna, listed on the Nasdaq Stockholm exchange under the ticker LAEKN, focuses on developing treatments for solid tumors and hematologic malignancies. The company has not previously disclosed financial projections tied to the breast cancer drug in public filings.
Shares of Laekna were not immediately available for comment as markets were closed. The company plans to provide further updates as the regulatory process advances.
