Israel’s equities ended higher on Wednesday, with the TA 35 index up 0.11% at the close of trade, as gains in the insurance and communications sectors offset declines in energy and technology names.
Advancing issues outnumbered decliners by 261 to 206 on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, while 92 stocks were unchanged. The TA 35, which tracks the 35 largest and most liquid stocks on the exchange, rose to 12,620.00 points, up 14 points from the prior session.
Clal Insurance Enterprises Holdings Ltd led sector gains, adding 2.13% to close at 25,860.00 shekels, while Migdal Insurance rose 2.10% to 1,945.00 shekels. Communications stocks also contributed, with Bezeq advancing 1.8%.
Energy and technology names weighed on the index. Enlight Renewable Energy fell 2.82% to 23,410.00 shekels, while Navitas Petroleum’s unit declined 2.45% to 13,160.00 shekels. Next Vision Stabilized Systems dropped 2.21% to 19,930.00 shekels.
Commodities retreated as crude oil and gold futures declined. October West Texas Intermediate crude fell 0.72% to $81.77 per barrel, while November Brent crude dropped 0.68% to $86.68 per barrel. December gold futures fell 0.66% to $4,663.55 per troy ounce.
The Israeli shekel strengthened 0.30% against the U.S. dollar to 2.98 shekels per dollar, while the euro was little changed at 3.47 shekels. The U.S. Dollar Index futures rose 0.30% to 99.13.
