Iofina plc said it has completed the installation of an additional brine water source at its IO11 iodine production facility, raising annual output by an estimated 45-65 metric tonnes and lifting total production capacity by 50%.
The London-listed company, which trades under the ticker AIM:IOF, now operates IO11 with two separate brine water sources. The expansion follows the completion of the installation project, which was designed to enhance production efficiency and output stability at the facility.
Iofina also provided an update on its IO12 plant, currently under construction. The company expects IO12 to become operational by the end of the third quarter of 2026, with an annual production capacity of 170-220 metric tonnes of crystalline iodine. Construction is proceeding as scheduled, the company said.
Iofina specializes in the exploration and production of iodine, supplying the element for use in pharmaceuticals, disinfectants and specialty chemical products. The company’s iodine operations are based in Oklahoma, where brine extraction methods are employed to extract the mineral from underground deposits.
