Indonesian equities closed higher on Thursday, with the IDX Composite Index gaining 1.77% to reach a three-month peak as gains in financials, infrastructure and agriculture sectors offset declines elsewhere on the Jakarta bourse.
Advancing issues outnumbered decliners by 437 to 199, with 196 stocks unchanged. The index’s advance marked its strongest close since mid-May, lifting the benchmark to levels last seen in late May.
Among the top performers, Multi Garam Utama Tbk surged 27.81%, or 47 points, to 216, while Guna Timur Raya PT added 25%, or 155 points, to 775. Alakasa Industrindo Tbk climbed 24.84%, or 800 points, to 4,020, reaching record highs. The gains were partially offset by losses in Citra Tubindo Tbk, which fell 12.53%, or 500 points, to 3,490, its weakest close in 52 weeks.
The broader market advance followed gains in key commodities, with October Brent crude rising 1.96% to $93.42 a barrel and October WTI crude up 2.04% to $86.11. December gold futures edged 0.07% higher to $4,548.46 per troy ounce.
The Indonesian rupiah weakened 0.09% against the U.S. dollar to 17,749, while the Australian dollar fell 0.44% to 12,640.65. The U.S. Dollar Index futures were down 0.09% at 98.64.
