IMAX Corporation reported that its global network generated $728 million in box‑office revenue between Memorial Day and Labor Day, marking a 73% increase over the previous summer record set in 2023. The company said its screens captured 5.8% of total worldwide box‑office receipts for June through August.
The summer’s top‑grossing title, Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, contributed $485 million, roughly 30% of the film’s worldwide earnings, and was shown at 39 IMAX 70mm locations. The film’s run has been extended through September 30.
As of June 30, IMAX operated 1,876 screens across 91 countries and territories, a network that includes its subsidiary IMAX China Holding. The company projects total 2026 box‑office revenue of about $1.4 billion.
Upcoming releases slated for the IMAX format include Dune: Part Three in December, alongside titles such as Resident Evil, Digger (featuring Tom Cruise), Street Fighter, Godzilla Minus Zero and The Further Mis‑Adventures of Cliff Booth.
Rich Gelfond, chief executive officer of IMAX, said the summer “has been one for the history books, as The Odyssey has illuminated a broader awakening around IMAX.”
