Indian drugmaker Gufic Biosciences posted an 85% increase in consolidated net profit for the quarter ended June 30, according to preliminary financial slides reviewed on Monday.
The Mumbai-based company, which specializes in branded generics and contract manufacturing, attributed the profit growth to higher revenue and expanded operating margins. Revenue for the quarter rose 15% year-on-year, supported by strong demand in domestic and export markets.
Gufic Biosciences did not disclose absolute profit or revenue figures in the preliminary slides. The company’s margin expansion reflects operational efficiencies and cost discipline, analysts noted. The firm has historically focused on high-margin therapeutic segments, including gastroenterology and pain management.
The results come amid broader consolidation in India’s pharmaceutical sector, where companies are prioritizing profitability over volume growth. Gufic Biosciences’ performance aligns with trends seen among mid-sized domestic players benefiting from rising healthcare demand and pricing power in niche segments.
The company is expected to release formal financial statements in the coming weeks, following standard disclosure practices for Indian-listed firms.
