C3is Inc. announced plans to implement a 1-for-40 reverse stock split, effective Tuesday, Aug. 6, the company said in a filing.
The corporate action is designed to reduce the total number of outstanding shares while proportionally increasing the share price, a move often pursued to meet exchange listing requirements or enhance market perception. Under the split, each 40 existing shares will be consolidated into one new share.
The reverse split does not alter the company’s market capitalization or the proportional ownership stakes of shareholders. However, it may influence liquidity and trading volume, as lower-priced stocks tend to attract different investor segments. C3is, a provider of AI and big data solutions, did not disclose additional financial or strategic rationale for the action in its filing.
The split is scheduled to take effect before the market open on Tuesday. Shareholders are not required to take any action, and the new share price will reflect the consolidation ratio.
