Greek equities ended higher on Thursday, with the Athens General Composite rising 0.23% as gains in banking, construction and travel shares offset declines in other sectors.
The benchmark index advanced modestly, closing up 0.23% after 60 advancers outpaced 47 decliners, while 22 stocks were unchanged. Trading volume reflected a mixed session, with the market showing resilience despite a narrow advance.
Optima Bank led gains, surging 5.34% to an all-time high of 11.83, while Gek Terna added 2.70% to 44.82. Kri-Kri Milk also reached record territory, climbing 2.65% to 31.00. On the downside, Unibios Holdings fell 1.91% to 2.82, followed by Viohalco’s 1.38% decline to 17.14 and Ekter’s 1.35% drop to 5.10.
Commodity markets saw parallel strength, with gold futures for December delivery rising 0.40% to $4,563.41 per troy ounce. Crude oil futures for October delivery advanced 2.17% to $86.22 per barrel, while Brent crude for the same month climbed 1.91% to $93.37 per barrel.
