Gold futures expiring in December advanced 0.55% during the U.S. trading session on Monday, lifting the contract to $4,706.16 per troy ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange.
The metal found support near $4,378.00 and encountered resistance at $4,738.25, according to intraday levels tracked by the exchange. The advance occurred as the U.S. Dollar Futures Index, which measures the greenback against a basket of six major currencies, gained 0.21% to trade at 98.94.
Silver futures for September delivery declined 1.15%, settling at $68.73 per troy ounce. Copper futures for the same month rose 0.16%, with the contract changing hands at $6.60 per pound-weight.
The session’s price action reflected a modest bid for haven-linked assets, with gold extending gains from earlier in the day. The Comex division’s settlement prices will be finalized at the close of the session on Monday.
