German equities showed limited movement on Wednesday as investors adopted a cautious stance ahead of key U.S. inflation data and Nvidia’s quarterly earnings release after the U.S. market close.
DAX futures pointed to a virtually unchanged opening at 26,255 points, roughly 319 points below the index’s recent record high of 26,574 points. Declining oil prices contributed to easing inflationary pressures, reducing some of the market’s near-term concerns.
Later in the session, the U.S. Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) price index is due for release, offering fresh insight into inflation trends ahead of the Federal Reserve’s annual Jackson Hole symposium, which begins Thursday. NordLB anticipates a modest increase in July’s PCE data, a development that could provide some reassurance to investors if confirmed.
Nvidia’s earnings report, due after U.S. markets close, is expected to draw significant attention, particularly given recent investor skepticism toward the company’s AI-related growth narrative. Deutsche Bank’s Jim Reid noted that Nvidia’s stock has declined following each of its last four earnings releases, signaling potential profit-taking even after strong results.
