The AEX index in Amsterdam ended Thursday 0.03% higher, as gains in oil and gas, real estate and healthcare sectors countered declines in broader market breadth. Advancing stocks outnumbered decliners by 35 to 60, with nine issues unchanged.
The AEX Volatility index, derived from AEX options, held steady at 21.09, reflecting stable implied volatility in the benchmark.
Among top gainers, Magnum Ice Cream N.V. rose 2.09% to close at €16.99, while DSM Firmenich AG added 1.56% to €89.88. RELX PLC advanced 0.93% to €30.38 in late trade.
On the downside, Aegon Ltd fell 2.91% to €7.80, NN Group N.V. declined 1.95% to €75.62 and Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize N.V. dropped 1.93% to €30.94, nearing 52-week lows.
Commodities extended gains, with Brent crude oil rising 2.34% to $93.76 per barrel and West Texas Intermediate crude up 2.73% to $86.69. December gold futures gained 0.67% to $4,575.89 per troy ounce.
The euro held steady against the dollar, with EUR/USD flat at 1.17, while EUR/GBP was little changed at 0.86. The U.S. Dollar Index futures were up 0.04% at 98.78.
