The AEX Index advanced 0.36% on Monday, closing at 1,109.95, as gains in consumer services, finance and real estate shares offset declines in energy and technology equities. Advancing stocks outnumbered decliners 51 to 43, with 12 issues unchanged.
Magnum Ice Cream NV led advancers with a 2.64% gain to 17.43, marking a record close. Unilever PLC rose 2.45% to 55.93, while Aegon Ltd added 2.22% to 7.93. On the downside, SBM Offshore NV fell 2.26% to 33.66, BE Semiconductor Industries NV dropped 2.26% to 208.00 and Prosus declined 1.36% to 37.78.
The AEX Volatility Index held steady at 21.09, while the EUR/USD rate was little changed at 1.17. US dollar futures slipped 0.17% to 98.90.
Commodities showed divergent trends, with crude oil futures falling over 2%. October WTI crude dropped 2.57% to $84.82 per barrel, while November Brent crude declined 2.24% to $90.59. Gold futures for December delivery rose 0.76% to $4,716.09 per troy ounce.
