Denmark’s benchmark equity index ended higher on Monday, with the OMX Copenhagen 20 gaining 0.41% as advances in consumer goods and energy offset losses in healthcare and industrials.
Advancing stocks outnumbered decliners by 74 to 51 on the Copenhagen exchange, with 14 issues unchanged. The index’s gains were led by Coloplast A/S, which rose 5.45% to 462.50, and AP Moeller - Maersk A/S, whose Class A and B shares added 3.86% and 3.75% respectively, reaching three-year highs at 21,540.00 and 22,430.00.
Zealand Pharma A/S was among the worst performers, falling 3.67% to 309.40, while Genmab declined 1.81% to 2,112.00 and NKT Holding dropped 0.70% to 926.50.
Oil prices retreated, with October WTI crude down 2.94% to $84.50 per barrel and November Brent falling 2.54% to $90.32. Gold futures for December delivery rose 1.13% to $4,733.51 per troy ounce. The Danish krone held steady against the dollar and euro, with USD/DKK and EUR/DKK largely unchanged at 6.41 and 7.48 respectively. The U.S. Dollar Index futures were up 0.14% at 98.86.
