Delio CEO sentenced to 15 years for crypto fraud in South Korea
Jeong Sang-ho, founder of South Korean crypto firm Delio, receives a 15-year prison term after being convicted of fraud in a Seoul court.

The CEO of South Korean cryptocurrency firm Delio has been sentenced to 15 years in prison following a conviction on fraud charges. Jeong Sang-ho was found guilty in a Seoul court, with the ruling finalized more than a year after his indictment.
Prosecutors alleged that Jeong and Delio misled investors by falsifying financial records and misrepresenting the company’s operations. The case centered on allegations that Delio promised high returns on crypto-linked investments while failing to disclose risks or the lack of underlying asset backing.
South Korean authorities have intensified scrutiny of the crypto sector amid growing concerns over fraud and market manipulation. Delio, once a prominent player in the country’s crypto lending space, has faced regulatory and legal challenges in recent years.
The 15-year sentence is one of the most severe penalties imposed on a crypto industry executive in South Korea. Legal experts suggest the ruling reflects the judiciary’s tougher stance on financial crimes involving digital assets.
Delio’s operations have been largely suspended since regulatory crackdowns began in 2022, and the company’s remaining assets are under court supervision pending further legal proceedings.
